Researchers and clinicians receive awards at National Spinal Cord Injury Conference

The following spinal cord injury (SCI) researchers recently received awards at the 5
th National Spinal Cord Injury Conference in Toronto this October.
- Dr. John Steeves, researcher with ICORD spinal cord research program at VGH, received the Champion of Change award at the conference. The award is given to an outstanding individual or group who has changed the fabric of the SCI community by enhancing patient care and increasing research production through outstanding leadership.
- Dianna Mah-Jones, occupational therapist with the spinal cord injury program at GF Strong Rehab Centre, received the People's Choice award for her poster entitled "The Finger'' -- An Aid for Digital Rectal Stimulation, as well as earning 2nd place for that poster in the Patient Care Category.
- Karen Anzai, rehab consultant with the spinal cord injury program at GF Strong Rehab Centre, and her co-authors (Amber Backwell, Corrie Funk, Kim van Wyk, Walt Lawrence, Brad Jacobsen, Andrea Townson) earned 3rd place in the Education Category for their poster Enhancing Education Delivery: An Evaluation of the Client Education Sessions and Print Materials in a Spinal Cord Injury Program.
