BC Biotech to use Flintbox for Biotechnology Industry Directory

October 3, 2006
Partnership will expand access to biotechnology by profiling research and industry

Vancouver, BC – September 19, 2006 – Flintbox, the premiere online application for marketing and licensing academic research and innovation in Canada, today announces that BC Biotech has chosen Flintbox as the platform to develop a searchable online directory of biotechnologies developed in British Columbia.

The collaboration will expand the functionality of Flintbox while providing the BC Biotech community with the ability to post company profiles and information on their technologies on Flintbox, and to also receive updates on the latest corresponding research published by universities and research centres.

“Flintbox proved to be the most logical and comprehensive platform for BC Biotech to profile our members, and grant them the ability to rapidly access, compare and contrast biotech activity among currently available technologies,” said Karimah Es Sabar, Executive Director of BC Biotech. “Through Flintbox we will be able to generate a dynamic online database of technologies that will be accessible to those interested in the BC biotechnology sector whether locally, across the country, or around the world.”

Through an advanced industry account, BC Biotech members will be able to publish a profile detailing current research activities they are working on, request specific types of Intellectual Property they are looking for, and provide company profiles and contact details. A Flintbox industry account will allow BC Biotech members to connect with researchers regarding current and sought after commercialization opportunities.

“We are thrilled BC Biotech has chosen Flintbox to create an industry directory of biotechnology companies,” said Stephen Smith, Project Director of Flintbox. “Flintbox was designed to be flexible and adaptive, and this project will give BC Biotech a great resource that will also help build the Flintbox data network.”
