Inflazyme Pharmaceuticals Names Jeremy Curnock Cook as Chairman of Board of Directors

VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA – Inflazyme Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (TSX: IZP) today announced the appointment of Jeremy Curnock Cook as the Chairman of the Board of Directors effective immediately. Mr. Curnock Cook succeeds John Hodgman who served as Inflazyme’s Chairman since November 2005. Mr. Hodgman has resigned his position due to increased commitments resulting from his recent appointment as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at InterMune Inc., in California. The Board of Inflazyme wishes to thank John for his stewardship of the Company for the last several months.
Mr. Curnock Cook, currently the Executive Chairman of Bioscience Managers Limited, a corporate and investment advisory company headquartered in London, England, has been an independent Director at Inflazyme since 1997. "Jeremy has made significant contributions to our Board of Directors and the Company for the last nine years, and so today we are very pleased to announce his appointment as Chairman of our Board," said Kevin Mullane, President and CEO of Inflazyme. "Jeremy has significant industry experience that spans numerous years in the biotechnology sector and the investment industry. Coupled with his extensive experience of public companies internationally, we believe that Jeremy’s leadership will be of tremendous value to the Company."

Mr. Curnock Cook founded the International Biochemicals Group in 1975, which was sold to Royal Dutch Shell in 1985, serving as Managing Director until 1987. From 1987 to 2000, he was a Director of Rothschild Asset Management Limited and was responsible for the Rothschild Bioscience Unit. Mr. Curnock Cook is a Director of several private and public biotechnology companies in the UK and the US and he is also Chairman of the Board of Targeted Genetics Inc., in Seattle. Mr. Curnock Cook received his M.A. in Natural Sciences from Trinity College, Dublin.
