Kardium has an outstanding opportunity for a Cardiovascular Implant Research Director. Heading up preclinical investigations, the Cardiovascular Implant Research Director will fill a key role on the research and development team for Kardium’s percutaneously delivered mitral valve repair device.
Within a dynamic startup environment equipped for efficient design prototyping and on-site preliminary evaluation, this hands-on leadership role is an opportunity to lead a biomedical research team in collaborating with development engineers to produce a therapy which will revolutionize the treatment of mitral regurgitation.
Candidate profile:
Requirements include a minimum of 10 years of commercial research and development experience, including 5 or more years focused on cardiovascular implants. A minimum of 3 years of experience in an influential leadership position is also required.
The Cardiovascular Implant Research Director is expected to bring substantial experience with the Premarket Approval process, having taken class III medical devices from benchtop to clinic. Ideally, this PMA experience will have included cardiovascular implants.
Responsibilities:
The Cardiovascular Implant Research Director will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine device design and delivery method. Assuming overall leadership of preclinical investigations for Kardium’s percutaneously delivered mitral valve repair device, the Cardiovascular Implant Research Director will guide studies including:
• design input generation
• evaluation of device safety and efficacy
• device impact on intra-cardiac hemodynamics, cardiac function, and cardiac remodeling
• implant biocompatibility
• morphology of diseased cardiac structures
The Cardiovascular Implant Research Director position is an on-site role located in Vancouver, Canada.
