Shazia Ahmed

Shazia is a 4^th year biotechnology major from the five-year joint honors degree program between UBC and BCIT. During her fall term, Shazia volunteered weekly assisting BC Biotech in developing its international communications list. 

When asked why she chose to volunteer at BC Biotech, Shazia responded that she chose BC Biotech because she wanted to "give back to the community that has nurtured the aspiring biotechnologists in our country."

Currently completing an eight-month work term at Amgen/Abgenix Biopharma in Vancouver, Shazia plans to continue working in the biotechnology industry, to "hopefully manifest a career rich in significant contributions to our scientific community."

"Biotechnology is the most exciting and dynamic industry out there", says Shazia. "The application of biological processes in providing goods and services is a fascinating function of scientific research, and I want to be part of the community that is at the forefront of the discovery process."
