MITACS
Is it a challenge to identify and recruit the best and brightest new talent? Do you want to make your R&D budget go further? Could your company benefit from collaborating with leading academic expertise?

The MITACS ACCELERATE Program connects Canadian companies with the vast research expertise within the nation’s universities. For a nominal cost, a company gains the skill and experience of a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow who applies their knowledge to a strategic research challenge faced by the company. Projects can be undertaken in a wide range of areas including manufacturing, technical innovation, business processes, IT, social sciences, design and much more. Armed with cutting-edge tools, techniques and innovations, an ACCELERATE intern brings a new perspective along with the latest knowledge to the company’s challenge. Additionally, the program enables companies to conduct a minimum four-month “on-the-job” interview, while helping to identify potential future employees.

Internships have been funded with many companies in the life sciences sector including enGene Inc, Perceptronix Medical Inc, Western Forest Products Inc, Sirius Genomics Inc, iCo Therapeutics Inc, Millar Western Forest Products, Zymeworks Inc, BC Hydro, Medavie Blue Cross, Marksman Cellject Inc, Kintama Research Corporation, Oticon Canada, Canadian EMR, Adigy Inc and MGS Horticultural Inc.

MITACS, a national research network which manages the ACCELERATE Program, has a decade of experience matching companies, the public sector and community organizations with university-based expertise. For more information about this cost-shared research program, visit www.mitacsaccelerate.ca or contact Laurence Meadows at lmeadows@mitacs.ca.
