LifeSciences BC Provides Essential Workshop on the Chinese Life Sciences Industry Environment in 2009

LifeSciences BC and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, North America Liaison Office (CMDA), were pleased to provide an informative workshop on the business environment of the Chinese life sciences industry.

Companies doing business in the Chinese healthcare market or planning to in the future benefited from a talk by special guest speaker Mr. Long Shen, Consul and Chief of Science and Technology at the Chinese Consulate General.  His discussion featured points about government policies and programs developed jointly by Canadian and Chinese governments, as well as assistance programs accessible to Canadian and BC companies in the biopharmaceutical, medical devices and biotechnology industries. 

Presentations from CMDA focused on:

• SFDA regulatory updates on medical devices, health supplement products
• Case studies of distribution establishment
• Overview of Chinese healthcare system and hospital system

CMDA (http://www.cmda.gov.cn), directly affiliated to Chinese Ministry of Health, manages and represents 2.1 million practicing physicians in China.
