LifeSciences BC Brings Canada Together for Dialogue on BioConversion and BioRefinery Efficiency with Lignocellulose Videoconference and Webinar
February 19, 2009
LifeSciences BC, with support from BC Innovation Council and BC Bioenergy Network, is leading a Lignocellulose-based ethanol and chemicals project for NRC – IRAP. On February 19th, LifeSciences BC held a webinar to build upon the actions from our techno-business videoconference on January 13, 2009. These actions were undertaken to broaden participation and discussion on pretreatment and process efficiencies for improved yield and quality and to accelerate commercialization in the BioProducts & BioEnergy sector.

"We need to continue to build a knowledge network and implement actions that will enhance Canada and British Columbia’s competitiveness and accelerate innovation," said Bob Ingratta, Manager Bioproducts and Bioenergy Sector. This two hour webinar was a unique event to explore the BioConversion & BioRefinery efficiency platform. It featured Dr. Sheldon Duff, Environmental Engineering, Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at University of British Columbia. Dr. Duff presented his latest research in pretreatment and C5 fermentation followed by an expert discussion among over 50 scientists and SMEs across Canada.
Presentations and Dr. Duff’s scientific report can be found on our web-site.
