LifeSciences BC Congratulates Drs. Max Cynader and Ross Petty on their Appointment to the Order of Canada
LifeSciences BC is delighted to congratulate Drs. Cynader and Petty on being
awarded the highest honour conferable on a civilian. Dr. Cynader has
made tremendous contributions to biomedical research in our community,
in particular in the study of the brain and visual systems, and for
increasing the accessibility of treatments.
Professor Emeritus Ross E. Petty specializes in pediatric rheumatology
at the British Columbia Children's Hospital in Vancouver, and
established the university’s academic program in 1979. He is honoured
for his contributions to that field, notably for having established its
first formal Canadian academic program at the University of Manitoba in
1976, and for having improved the lives of children afflicted with
rheumatic diseases.
