Exhibit space at BIO 2009 in Atlanta next year is already filling up, so BC organizations wishing to exhibit at the conference need to act immediately. Due to the immense resources required to mount a provincial pavilion, LifeSciences BC is refocusing our participation at BIO next year and will not be coordinating a British Columbia Pavilion, but organizations are still offered the opportunity to exhibit within the Canadian pavilion should they not delay. The cornerstone of the sabc program is to provide students the opportunity to work with scientist mentors in real labs on real projects. To make this happen the program needs mentors to help the high school student teams develop and execute their projects. The sanofi-aventis BioTalent Challenge is a high-school competition held nationwide that brings together creative and curious young people interested in solving a problem using biotechnology. LifeSciences British Columbia is proud to be the lead organizer for the sanofi-aventis biotech challenge in BC. The competition offers a total of $10,000 shared between the winning students and their schools. This event will also feature presenters from the local scientific community, showcasing their careers and demonstrating the opportunities available in biotechnology.
