iGEM Sponsorhip Opportunity
Eric Lagally, an assistant professor at UBC in the Michael Smith Laboratories and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, is currently involved in a nascent effort to assemble and field a team of undergraduate students and graduate student advisors for the International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) competition.
Significant interest on the part of bioinformatics students in a joint program with SFU and UBC has led to efforts to create a team from the Lower Mainland. Dr. Lagally is seeking support from industrial partners to help fund the students' research on their chosen project (as yet undefined). There is a short backgrounder that explains the many benefits of such a team, to both the students involved as well as academia and the biotech industries in the Lower Mainland. Lean more. |
