VANTEC-Life Science Angel Network Presentation Opportunities November 4th,2008 through May 5th, 2009 Angel investors are accomplished entrepreneurs who make investments in early stage companies. These investors truly wish to see young companies succeed and often provide mentoring advice as well as capital. Local Angel investors began to meet as the Vancouver Angel Technology Network (VANTEC) in 1999. Eric Lagally, an assistant professor at UBC in the Michael Smith Laboratories and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, is currently involved in a nascent effort to assemble and field a team of undergraduate students and graduate student advisors for the International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) competition.
