AMGEN Expands Award for Science Teaching Excellence (AASTE) to Recognize Outstanding Teachers in Four Provinces
MISSISSAUGA, ON. (Nov. 1, 2008) – Amgen Canada today announced that applications for the Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence (AASTE) are now open and is encouraging teachers in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec to apply. The AASTE is designed to recognize and honour teachers who demonstrate exemplary science teaching and who achieve demonstrated results in student learning at the K-12 level in Canada. Read more
Nonimations Requested for the 2009 Weston Youth Innovation Award
Presented annually by the Ontario Science Centre, the Weston Youth Innovation Award was created to encourage and recognize young Canadian innovators. Organizers are looking for individuals or groups who:
1. are between the ages of 14 and 18
2. have used science and/or technology as the basis for developing creative and innovative ideas aimed at solving real-world problems
3. put their ideas into action, and as a result, have had a positive impact either in their own community or on a broader scale.
In addition to cash and other prizes, the winner's work and ideas will be showcased in the Weston Family Innovation Centre at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, in order to inspire other youth to think, work and collaborate in new ways. Read more
