National Biotechnology Week Concludes with Greatest Number of Attendees Ever
LifeSciences BC is happy to report that this year was our most successful National Biotech Week ever. With more events offered evthis year during NBWthan ever before, and over 350 people from across the BC life sciences community in attendance altogether, we were happy to bring biotech more place than ever before. Many thanks to Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP for their generous sponsorship of two workshops, one in Vancouver and the other in Kelowna.

What is National Biotechnology Week?
Living solutions. Inspiring success. This week is a celebration of the imagination and innovation of Canadian scientists and entrepreneurs from Vancouver to Halifax. Every region of the country participating in this national program designed to inform Canadians and showcase Canadian excellence. With over 30 partners to the program, National Biotechnology Week is a proven success. Participants will take part in career fairs, tour our Canadian biotech companies, and see how biotechnology is vital to our future. Many more will hear from influential leaders of the industry and meet with federal and provincial decision makers.

Keening Your Edge - LifeSciences BC welcome Tdheravance’s Dr. Mathai Mammen as our featured speaker for this Breakfast Speaking Series. As a Harvard- and MIT-educated scientific founder and head of research at Theravance, Mammen will shared his story of building this billion-dollar Bay Area company, right from getting it off the ground to verging on market approval.

As our kick-off for National Biotech Week in Canada, LifeSciences BC invited all of our members and numerous community partners to join us for our 2008 Annual General Meeting on September 23rd. At the meeting, we introduced our new Board members, highlighted our exciting accomplishments from the past year, and outlined LifeSciences BC’s plans for 2008/2009.
