LifeSciences BC's Industry Roundtable Featuring Ernst & Young Sells Out
A presentation of Beyond Borders, 2008 Global Biotechnology Report by Ernst & Young
October 29, 2008

LifeSciences BC was pleased to partner with Ernst & Young to offer this special presentation of Beyond Borders, Ernst & Young Global Biotechnology Report 2008.

Members of our community enjoy breakfast at the Sutton Place Hotel before the presentations
Glen Giovanetti, Ernst & Young’s Global Biotechnology Sector Leader was in Vancouver to share his perspective on the current state of
the biotechnology industry, insights about emerging trends and the
impact of the recent global economy turmoil on the sector. The biotech
sector matures, medicine becomes more targeted, globalization
accelerates and pharma restructures. Biotech companies are forced to
reinvent themselves. In Canada, there is an emerging trend in the
distribution of private companies across segments. While one half of
the private companies continue to be involved in the development of
therapeutics, one third of the companies are now involved in
agriculture, aquatics, biomaterials and environment up from one fourth
in 2006.
Nicole Poirier, a local member of Ernst & Young Global
Biotechnology Sector network, Life Sciences Sector and
Cleantech Sector leader for British Columbia, was also on hand to speak to participants about the presentation.
