What is National Biotechnology Week?
Living solutions. Inspiring success. This week is a celebration of the imagination and innovation of Canadian scientists and entrepreneurs from Vancouver to Halifax. Every region of the country participating in this national program designed to inform Canadians and showcase Canadian excellence. With over 30 partners to the program, National Biotechnology Week is a proven success. Participants will take part in career fairs, tour our Canadian biotech companies, and see how biotechnology is vital to our future. Many more will hear from influential leaders of the industry and meet with federal and provincial decision makers.

Keening Your Edge
LifeSciences BC is pleased to welcome Theravance’s Dr. Mathai Mammen as our featured speaker for the next Breakfast Speaking Series. As a Harvard- and MIT-educated scientific founder and head of research at Theravance, Mammen will share his story of building this billion-dollar Bay Area company, right from getting it off the ground to verging on market approval.

LifeSciences British Columbia is proud to be the lead organizer for the sanofi-aventis BioTalent Challenge (SABC) in BC. The sanofi-aventis BioTalent Challenge is a high-school competition held nationwide that brings together creative and curious young people interested in solving a problem using biotechnology.

LifeSciences BC Medical Device Seminar – Overview of Chinese Healthcare Market

This 2-hour seminar features the latest facts, figures and success stories about the world's fastest growing healthcare market. They will be presented by a team of exhibition experts flying in from China specifically for the purpose of promoting the mission to Hong Kong and mainland China in April 2009.
This seminar will be held in cooperation with the China division of Reed Exhibition and have met with mounting success. Over the last 3 years, Reed Exhibition has been staging a "road show" across the country, promoting China and their exhibition in particular. This road show features experts from the CMEF (China Medical Equipment Fair) which takes place in Shenzhen every spring and acts as the culmination of our mission every April. Presentations include facts and figures on China's life sciences sector, Chinese medical regulations, Intellectual Property, Tax Law and the CMEF. Each presentation also includes a Q&A component which covers whatever attendees want to know about this topic.
