Join LifeSciences BC and the International Marine Community at BioMarine 2008

LifeSciences BC is delighted to working with the BC Innovation Council and the organizers of the newly-established international BioMarine Conference to lead a BC delegation to the 2008 Conference in Marseille, France, from October 22-24, 2008, and to co-host the 2009 BioMarine conference here in Vancouver.

Coordination of the British Columbia delegation to BioMarine 2008 includes securing speaking opportunities for BC experts, development of a BC Pavilion, and the hosting of a special British Columbia dinner to announce the fact that as of 2009, Vancouver will be the bi-annual co-host of this event -- a fantastic global opportunity for the province of BC and our life sciences community.

BioMarine is a unique international forum that will bring together business, science, government, civil society and media to advance ocean sustainability.  This international platform for dialogue will include a large number of interactive world-class conferences, debates and a business convention. The first edition of the Forum will taking place this October in France will be the official maritime event of the French Presidency of the European Union.  

BioMarine’s mission is to draw out innovative solutions to ensure the sustainable development of sea and ocean-based activities, by bringing all of maritime communities together.  For the first time international stakeholders from the industrial, scientific and political worlds will be brought together at BioMarine to look at key maritime and marine issues.

Main conference themes include:
  • Life resources of the oceans
  • Oceans, environment and energy
  • Maritime geopolitics
  • Security, pollution, prevention
  • Multimodal transport: ports and maritime transport

An exceptional conference program is offered, bringing together 200 internationally renowned contributors and offering 50 sessions; round table discussions, R&D updates and public forums.

BioMarine will also offer the opportunity to organize on-line, up to 15 professional one-on-one meetings per day with all the participants of the forum, including companies, scientists, media and public representatives.
