UVIC’S Vancouver Island Technology Park Appoints New Manager of Business Development and Marketing
Press Release-Saanich, British Columbia, June 8, 2007—Av Hundle, a recent University of Victoria business grad, is the new Manager, Business Development and Marketing at UVic’s Vancouver Island Technology Park (VITP) in Saanich.
“Av brings to our park management team a strong academic background coupled with recent industry experience,” says Vice President of Technology Parks Dale Gann. “This appointment will greatly assist VITP in bridging the gap between academia and industry, as well as assist us in improving our relationships with small and medium sized businesses.”
Initially, Hundle joined VITP last year as a student through UVIC Business’s Cooperative Education Program, where he spent eight months assisting the management team with marketing initiatives and business development objectives.
Graduating from UVic’s Faculty of Business, with a major in entrepreneurship, will enable Mr. Hundle in his major responsibilities: focusing on relationships with our stakeholders and developing and managing short and long term marketing strategies, including the management and promotion of the park’s corporate brand identity. In addition, a significant portion of his efforts will be spent towards obtaining new tenants for VITP’s upcoming expansion.
VITP facilitates the growth of technology on Vancouver Island by providing physical infrastructure linking local, provincial, national and international resources with emerging or growing tech companies. VITP is a highly acclaimed centre of Information and Communication Technology, Wireless, New Media, Life Science, Clean-tech, and Ocean-tech excellence. The 23 companies located at VITP employ 1,300 people and directly contribute $280 million annually to the economy of British Columbia. |
