Medical Technology Export Opportunity - Canadian Embassy in Spain

You will find here a brief description of what is currently done in the Emergency Room (ER) at the Quiron Hospital in Madrid (www.quiron.es) . The Quiron Group is now interested in developing this model in all its ERs, just like other private owners of hospitals (ex: Sanitas, Adeslas). In total, that can represent over 30 hospitals!

Where do Canada fit in all this?

Dr. Niko Mihic, Head of the ER at the Quiron Hospital in Madrid, is a dual citizen Spanish-CDN. He can also practice medicine in Canada. He is the "official" Embassy's doctor. Since he is the head of the ER, and responsible for the operational model they use, he wants to apply that same model to all hospitals. He also wants to involve as many Canadian products as possible. The first step would be to organise a "2-day conference" in Madrid with Spanish private groups - hospitals owners, equipment buyers - and potential suppliers coming from Canada. The target date is sometime in April 2007.

Types of equipment needed:

* Medical equipment (of all sorts: from beds to stetoscopes, including one-use disposable equipment);

* laboratory equipment;

* Radiology equipment;

* Radiology software;

* Patient + hospital management softwares and systems;

* medical protocols

* etc.

Suggestions/comments are welcomed. You will notice that they practically need everything, so a lot of firms could be involved, from a lot of subsectors of Medical Devices.
