British Columbia Delegation at BIO 2006

BC Biotech is pleased to announce that BIO 2006 in Chicago, Illinois was our most successful BIO event to date.  Over 4,000 international delegates visited the British Columbia Biotech Pavilion to view our exhibiting companies, watch presentations and learn more about the biotechnology industry in British Columbia.  Thirty organizations participated in the BC delegation and over fifteen presentations were made in the presentation theatre in the pavilion.  British Columbia's delegation can confidently say that a lasting impression was made to the global biotechnology industry in Chicago this year.

Dozens of meetings, presentations and events took place during the tradeshow, including:

o Successful Team BC Dinner at the Drake Hotel setting the stage for the conference, and allowing BC delegates the opportunity to liaise with Minister Colin Hansen and communicate their conference objectives;

o Presentation to the Board of Rx&D to share with them many of BC Biotech’s activities, and to determine how our two organizations can best work together, alongside our partners in industry, government and academia;

o Meetings with our colleagues in many international jurisdictions, notably Japan and Europe to devise ways to raise the profile of BC’s biotech industry in those regions, and develop further mechanisms to facilitate investment and partnering with BC biotech companies;

o Local media coverage by Business in Vancouver and the Vancouver Sun

o The most dynamic presence at the Tradeshow Reception Floor!
